Centrifugal Air Compressor

Centrifugal compressors use high-speed impellers to accelerate air outward, then convert that velocity into pressure. They handle very large air volumes — from 20 to over 200 m³/min — in a compact, oil-free design.

Product Description

A centrifugal compressor works differently from a screw compressor. Instead of trapping air between rotors, it spins air at high speed in an impeller, then slows it down in a diffuser, converting velocity into pressure.

Three stages of compression, each with its own impeller and intercooler, bring the air from atmospheric pressure to 7–10 bar. There is no oil in the air path — the impellers rotate on precision bearings (sometimes magnetic bearings) and don't contact the casing.

These machines make sense when air demand exceeds 20 m³/min continuously. Large automotive plants, steel mills, and petrochemical facilities are typical users. The machines have few wearing parts and can run 80,000+ hours between major overhauls.

Inlet Guide Vanes (IGV)

Inlet Guide Vanes (IGV)

Adjustable vanes at the impeller inlet throttle flow from 100% down to about 60% without surging. This provides turndown capability without a VSD.

Long Overhaul Interval

Long Overhaul Interval

With no contact between rotating and stationary parts, wear is minimal. Major overhaul intervals are 6–8 years of continuous running.

Compact for the Output

Compact for the Output

A centrifugal compressor producing 100 m³/min takes about the same floor space as a 75kW screw compressor. The power density is high.
